Pine
Pine in general refers to Pinus spp. found on Hawaiʻi Island, including slash pine (Pinus elliottii) and Caribbean pine (Pinus caribaea). Some stands exist in reforestation plots or as windbreaks.

Pine plantations, though not as extensive as Eucalyptus or Koa, have been established in certain areas for experiment or reforestation. The wood can be milled for construction lumber, pallets, or fence posts. In Hawaiʻi, pine grown at higher elevations, such as on ranchlands, can yield better quality logs. However, commercial pine harvest is modest and typically overshadowed by more valuable species. Some local sawmills process pine for interior paneling or cabin-style furnishings, but markets are relatively small, supporting a limited but steady use.
