Producers and Jobs

Data based upon job reporting provides insight into the size of the workforce of the island's larger producers with employees and where they are distributed throughout the island.

Buyers and Sellers

Individual establishment data provides an overview of the distribution of buyers of staple food commodities and the sellers of food products, either as raw, fresh produce or as a processed and packaged food product. The categories referenced below include a broad definition of value chain roles. Establishments fulfilling multiple value chain roles are categorized within one primary role.

  • Aggregators are establishments operating primarily as a food hub.

  • Processors include processors and manufacturers of food products, coffee roasters, bakeries, caterers, food service companies, breweries and wineries.

  • Restaurants include full-service and limited-service restaurants, cafeterias, snack bars and beverage bars.

  • Retailers include supermarkets and grocery stores, convenience stores, fruit/vegetable retailers and specialty food outlets.

  • Wholesalers include distributors, brokers and other food wholesalers.
